Hello! This is Nikhil Yadav, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering, MIET, Meerut and would like to share my experience regarding surgery of varicose veins through which I went on 29th Nov, 2016.
Firstly I would like to brief upon the varicose veins that could take place in anyone at any age and at any stage. It usually happens in the feet below the knee where the veins get swelled up. Sometimes this could easily be observed superficially. There are numerous valves inside the veins that allow the flow of blood in unilateral direction. Due to the dilation of the veins, the valves get wide open allowing the flow of blood in bilateral direction. The blood also gets clot inside the veins causing severe pain rendering the veins bruised. As the flow of blood get hinders through the dilated veins, the skin becomes dark bluish in colour due to the deposition of the iron component of blood under the lower layer of skin. The skin also gets dried due to the lack of supply of oxygen to the skin through the blood rendering itching. These are the common symptoms that could be observed.
The first question that could arise in your mind that how I came to know this problem of mine in spite of the fact that I do not belong to any medical backgrounds. This problem was pertaining in me since very childhood in the forms of swelled veins but without any pain or any other regressive symptoms. Hence I did not bother too much for that. There has been one blood donation camp in Meerut institute of engineering and technology, Meerut where I voluntarily donated 300 ml of blood. Next morning when I got up from bed, I felt a sever pain in my left leg below the knee where the blood seemed to be clotted. The moment I move my leg, the blood was felt to rush down the feet causing a fatal pain and suffering which was intolerable. Somehow slowly I moved and tried to become normal but it was all in vain.
I consulted to my family doctor who diagnosed it to be varicose veins. He suggested me to go for colour dopplers test and I immediately followed his suggestion like an order. From the report I came to know that I am suffering with varicose veins. Now came the real problem, where I actually didn’t know whom to approach and how. My family doctor told that I would find no surgeon in meerut who could do its operation and again suggested me to move to Delhi or Noida for the surgery. I was very much scared of surgery. Whenever the word “surgery”, comes in front of my eyes, it is visualised with cutting and sewing of flesh part accompanied with the massive loss of blood. I was really worried for what to do next. I did not want to inform about the same at home as the people out there would get unnecessarily worried in this cold season of november as my hometown, Gorakhpur falls miles away from Delhi.
I started finding the informations regarding surgery on net and came through many reviews and feedback. Accidentally I came through one link that lead me to surgivisor. I just registered my self casually and to my surprise got a call from it in the next one hour. “Personal Health Advisor” of surgivisor attended me and asked me problem in detail. I am very much pleased of her behaviour and hospitality that she shown towards me. She suggested me to visit Fortis, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi and also asked if she could help me with the appointment as per my convenience. I was in doubt that would be the surgery going to be painful and expensive. I inquired of each and every detail of it and she acted as the mediator between me and the hospital furnishing all the required information in the next moment. She told the approx amount and suggested for Dr. Pradeep Muley as well as confirmed my appointment with him. It was really very helpful for me as I was following her instructions blindly with a faith in my heart.
I reached Fortis, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi on the scheduled date and time. The management of the hospital has been very helpful and informative. The sanitation of the hospital is appreciable. I met the coordinator of Dr. Pradeep Muley who led me to him. Dr. Muley came out to be God for me who explained me each and everything after the careful diagnosis of my legs and reported for the varicose veins in both the legs. I became more scared on learning about my problem and the situation became more pitiful when I heard that I had to go through a surgery. Dr. Muley was so kind to tell me that there are various other ways like non-surgical treatment as radiofrequency ablation to get the problem resolved. He further explained the advantages of the same like there would be no cut, loss of blood in the form of two drops, recovery in 24 hours and chances of recurrence is 2%. After getting satisfied with all the procedures and consequences, I took the appointment for operation and got myself pacified. On 29th Nov, 2016 I took my operation and got relieved by afternoon and was kept in ICU for 4 hours and later shifted to the ward.
Such a major operation happened like anything as if it had been normal for me. I really thanks Dr. Pradeep Muley and his staff to get my job done so easily and in the lucent manner. I could never forget the help, advice, suggestion and care that surgivisor has given me throughout without whom I have been never able to go through such a grave problem.
At last I would like to thanks surgivisor, their “Health Advisor” and Dr. Pradeep Muley, his staffs and the whole Fortis Hospital for caring and assisting me in going through this problem.
